Q: From what age can I use the PORTACHAIR? Does my baby have to be able to sit upright?

A:The PORTACHAIR can be used from as early as 5 months, much earlier than most traditional highchairs. Your baby only needs to be able to support their head in an upright position, not the entire body as the PORTACHAIR provides proper support even at an early age.

Q: Which set of holes should I use for the shoulder harness strap?

A: The shoulder harness should fit at or slightly above shoulder height for maximum stability and comfort, similar to the harness used in a car seat. As a general guideline:
• Use bottom straps for young babies - 5 months - 9 months
• Middle straps for 9 months – 15 months
• Upper straps for larger babies

Q: Is there a size/weight limit for using the PORTACHAIR?

A: There is no weight limitation as the PORTACHAIR leverages a standard chair which can be used by adults, however there is an upper age limit which is determined by the temperament and maturity of the child. At the earlier ages, the PORTACHAIR provides support so your child can sit upright, unaided. At the later ages (2 ½ years), the PORTACHAIR serves the purpose of keeping your child securely in place and free from falling off a ‘big chair’ when they no longer want to sit in a high chair.

Q: Is the PORTACHAIR machine washable?

A: Yes, the PORTACHAIR is machine washable and we recommend using cold/warm water. To air dry, simply hang or lay flat. We do not recommend machine drying.

Q: Is it safe to use a pillow under the PORTACHAIR to add height?

A: Unlike a booster seat, the PORTACHAIR was designed to keep your child’s center of gravity low and at the back of the chair which is the safest and most stable position. We do not recommend using a pillow or any other device to add height.

Q: Where is the PORTACHAIR manufactured?

A: In China, by a leading manufacturer of hiking gear and backpacks.

Q: How do I know the PORTACHAIR is safe?

A: When it comes to safety, no other product on the market comes close. BambinOz was the first company to incorporate the Product Safety Framework (PSF) guidelines for all baby products set by Standards Australia, into its design. The design was further refined and tested by a group of over 40 independent families with children ages 5 – 30 months. Before the PORTACHAIR is produced, all of the fabrics and materials are manufactured to meet our strict guidelines according to the leading US and EU safety requirements and only the highest quality materials are used. Finally, we engage the best independent testing agencies to administer independent safety testing against the leading Australia, US and European requirements – these agencies test for stability, tear strength, seam strength, choking hazards, presence of harmful dyes and chemicals, labeling, etc. At the end of the day, the PORTACHAIR is the ONLY high chair accredited and approved by the Infant Nursery Products Association of Australia (INPAA) – the leading independent safety advisory council.

Q: Which colour is best against staining?

A: The PORTACHAIR is made from a special Cotton/Poly blend which is very durable. All colours hold up well against staining and are machine washable.

Q: Can I use the PORTACHAIR on a dining chair with a high back?

A: Yes, the PORTACHAIR will fit chairs up to 63 cm (25 inches) measured from base of seat to top of chair. There is an alternate fit for these types of chairs which is described in the instruction guide or through the step-by-step video demonstration.
